Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (use Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

EIF2AK2 (PKR) is one of four kinases that phosphorylate Ser51 of translation initiation factor eIF2-alpha in response to environmental stresses. PKR plays a crucial role in antiviral defense by being directly activated by double-stranded RNA produced during viral infection.
It is involved in IFN-induced innate antiviral responses, virus-induced apoptosis, and regulation of cell growth and differentiation. PKR induces apoptosis via Fas expression and mediates FADD/Caspase-8 signaling.
Upon viral infection, PKR sequentially activates both survival and death pathways through kinase-dependent and independent mechanisms. It regulates multiple pathways, including NF-kappaB, p53, p38, and PDGF signaling.
PKR is implicated in tumor suppression, malignancy, and several neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, and ALS.
Viruses have evolved mechanisms to evade PKR’s antiviral effects, including inhibition by influenza virus NS1 protein.
