Target Information
The human ASH2L gene encodes a 628 amino acid protein known as ASH2L1 (isoform 1), which contains a nuclear localization signal and PHD finger motif, suggesting a role as a transcription regulator. The predicted molecular weight is approximately 68.7 kDa, with alternative isoforms at 60 kDa and 56.5 kDa.
Human ASH2L shows 60% homology to Drosophila ash2 and 90% to mouse ASH2L. It is mainly expressed in adult heart, testis, and fetal lung and liver. Expression is low in adult lung, liver, kidney, prostate, and peripheral leukocytes, as well as in certain leukemia cell lines (K562, Hel, Dami). Expression changes under differentiation inducers (e.g., phorbol ester, hemin) indicate a role in hematopoiesis and leukemia. ASH2L may also interact with beta-tubulin and beta-catenin.
