Target Information
CD122 (Interleukin 2 receptor) is involved in T cell-mediated immune responses, primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system and exists in three forms.
- Low affinity form: Monomer of the alpha subunit, not involved in signal transduction
- Intermediate affinity form: Alpha/beta subunit heterodimer
- High affinity form: Alpha/beta/gamma subunit heterotrimer
Both intermediate and high affinity forms are involved in receptor-mediated endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction.
The protein encoded by the CD122 gene represents the beta subunit and is a type I membrane protein.
Dysfunction of CD122 is associated with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor-negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
