Target Information
Steroid and thyroid hormones and retinoic acid regulate a complex array of gene expression via intracellular receptor transcription factors belonging to the ligand-dependent nuclear receptor superfamily.
Coactivators and corepressors modulate transcriptional activity of these nuclear receptors.
Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein-1 (GRIP1), also known as Transcription Intermediary Factor 2 (TIF2), is part of a transcriptional coactivator family that includes SRC-1 and AIB-1.
GRIP1 interacts with and stimulates the transcriptional activity of retinoic acid, retinoid X, vitamin D, mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid, thyroid hormone, androgen, estrogen, progesterone, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors.
It contains multiple conserved LXXLL/LLXXL motifs critical for receptor–coactivator interactions.
