Reconstitution:
Briefly centrifuge vial before opening to collect contents at the bottom. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex. Store at 2°C–8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, dilute in buffer containing 0.1% BSA and store aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.

Storage:
Lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for 1 month; store at -20°C for long-term storage. Working aliquots with carrier protein are stable for ≥3 months at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

TGF-alpha is an EGF-related growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and tumor cells, and induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha binds EGFR, activates receptor tyrosine phosphorylation, and promotes cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
