Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs and Western blots, less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant human (rh) IL-1 RII, rhIL-2 R beta, rhIL-2 R gamma, rhIL-3 R is observed.
- Less than 1% cross-reactivity with rhIL-1 RI, rhIL-4 R, rhIL-6 R, rhIL-7 R, rhIL-9 R, and rhIL-10 R is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a soluble T cell-derived factor, also known as T cell replacing factor (TRF), that induces B cell and eosinophil growth and differentiation.
IL-5 exerts its biological activity through the IL-5 receptor (IL-5R), which is composed of two chains:
- Alpha chain binds IL-5 with low affinity
- Beta chain does not bind IL-5 but forms the high-affinity receptor complex with the alpha chain
The cytoplasmic domains of both chains are essential for signal transduction. The membrane-proximal proline-rich sequence of the IL-5Rα cytoplasmic domain is critical for IL-5 induced proliferative response, expression of nuclear proto-oncogenes, and tyrosine phosphorylation of cellular proteins such as JAK1 and JAK2.
