EGFR은 막 관통형 수용체로, EGF 및 TGF-α 등의 리간드 결합에 의해 이합체화 및 세포질 도메인의 티로신 잔기 자가인산화가 유도됩니다.
과발현은 두경부, 뇌, 방광, 위, 유방, 폐, 자궁내막, 자궁경부, 외음부, 난소, 식도, 위 및 편평세포암 등에서 관찰됩니다.
