Target Information
MAPKAPK5 (also known as PRAK) is a serine/threonine kinase activated in response to cellular stress and pro-inflammatory cytokines. Its activity is regulated by p38 alpha and p38 beta kinases. Upon activation, MAPKAPK5 phosphorylates heat shock protein HSP27 at physiologically relevant sites. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
