Target Information
Regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) proteins contain a conserved 120 amino acid RGS domain that functions as a GTPase-activating protein, reducing signaling from receptor-activated G-alpha subunits.
RGS22 is a recently identified member of this family, localized to the testis, and interacts with GNA11, GNA12, and GNA13. It is implicated in spermiogenesis and is also expressed in several epithelial cancer cell lines, where it may influence metastasis. Overexpression of RGS22 reduces cell migration and invasiveness, suggesting its potential as a prognostic biomarker for metastasis.
