This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RGS21.
Target Information
Regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) proteins contain a conserved 120 amino acid RGS domain that functions as a GTPase-activating protein, reducing signals transmitted by receptor-activated G-alpha subunits.
RGS21 is a recently identified member of this family, selectively expressed in taste bud cell subpopulations and co-expressed with bitter and sweet transduction components such as alpha-gusticin, phospholipase Cβ2, T1R2/T1R3 sweet taste receptors, and T2R bitter taste receptors.
Other studies indicate broader expression of RGS21. Binding assays show RGS21 interacts with alpha-gusticin and possibly T1R receptors, suggesting a role in sweet and bitter taste transduction processes.
