Target Information
CD79a is a disulphide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It functions as part of the B lymphocyte antigen receptor complex, associating with immunoglobulin (Ig) molecules and the Ig-alpha and Ig-beta components essential for B-cell receptor expression and signaling.
CD79a expression begins at the pre-B cell stage and persists until the plasma cell stage, where it becomes intracellular. It is commonly found in precursor B-cell leukemias, B-cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but not in myeloid or T-cell lines.
Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Agammaglobulinemia, Non-Bruton type.
