BRAF는 세포막에서 핵으로의 유사분열 신호 전달에 관여하는 단백질로, 인간 암에서 체세포 돌연변이에 의해 활성화될 수 있습니다. 이 단백질은 MAP kinase/ERK 신호 경로를 조절하여 세포 분열, 분화 및 분비에 영향을 미칩니다. B-Raf의 돌연변이는 비호지킨 림프종, 대장암, 악성 흑색종, 갑상선암, 비소세포 폐암 및 폐 선암 등 다양한 암과 관련이 있습니다. 또한 X 염색체에 위치한 유사유전자(pseudogene)가 보고되어 있습니다.
