STAT5 alpha는 transcription factor STAT family의 구성원으로, cytokine 및 성장인자에 의해 receptor-associated kinase에 의해 인산화되어 homo- 또는 heterodimer를 형성하고 핵으로 이동하여 transcription activator로 작용합니다.
STAT5 alpha는 IL2, IL3, IL7, GM-CSF, erythropoietin, thrombopoietin, 성장호르몬 등 다양한 리간드의 반응을 매개합니다.
TEL/JAK2 유전자 융합과 관련된 myeloma 및 lymphoma에서 STAT5 alpha의 활성은 자극 독립적으로 발생하며 종양형성에 필수적입니다.
Mouse STAT5 alpha는 BCL2L1/BCL-X(L) 발현을 유도하여 항아포토시스 기능을 가질 수 있습니다.
STAT5 alpha와 STAT5 beta는 96%의 아미노산 서열 유사성을 가지며 대부분의 조직에서 함께 발현됩니다.
STAT5 alpha는 생식, 수유, 면역 기능, 체성 성장 등 다양한 생리적 기능에 관여합니다.
