Assay by immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Peroxidase, anti-Rabbit Serum, and purified Alkaline Phosphatase [Human Intestine].
Cross-reactivity with alkaline phosphatase from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) is a homodimeric enzyme (~86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer essential for catalytic activity.
It is optimally active at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
ALP plays roles in liver metabolism and skeletal development.
In bacteria, it acts as a source of inorganic phosphate, while in yeast it aids in membrane protein sorting studies.
