Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant human BMP-2, BMP-4, BMP-5, BMP-6, and BMP-7 is observed.
- This antibody very weakly recognizes native dimeric BMP-3.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody (LAL method).
Target Information
BMPs (Bone Morphogenetic Proteins) belong to the TGF-β superfamily. They stimulate bone matrix protein production and regulate stromal cell and osteoclast proliferation, which are key steps in bone marrow development.
In addition to promoting ectopic bone and cartilage formation, BMPs influence the growth, differentiation, chemotaxis, proliferation, and apoptosis of various cell types, including mesenchymal, epithelial, hematopoietic, and neuronal cells.
BMP3 is highly expressed in lung, ovary, and small intestine, and participates in cartilage and bone formation. BMP3 and BMP2 genes map to conserved regions between human and mouse.
