Target Information
Epigen is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the ErbB receptor-1. It promotes epithelial cell growth and may stimulate EGFR phosphorylation and MAP kinase activation.
Epigen is expressed in multiple tissues, including testis, liver, heart, and certain tumor cells. It is mitogenic for fibroblasts and epithelial cells.
Human Epigen is synthesized as a glycosylated 14.7 kDa transmembrane precursor protein, processed by proteolytic cleavage into a mature soluble form.
