Target Information
EpoR encodes the erythropoietin receptor, a member of the cytokine receptor family. Binding of erythropoietin activates Jak2 tyrosine kinase, which triggers intracellular signaling pathways such as Ras/MAP kinase, PI3K, and STAT transcription factors. Activated EpoR supports erythroid cell survival. Mutations in this gene can cause erythroleukemia and familial erythrocytosis. Dysregulation may influence tumor growth. Multiple transcript variants are generated via alternative splicing.
