Beta-actin is one of six different actin isoforms identified. Actin molecules across species and tissues are highly conserved in immunological and physical properties, making it challenging to generate potent antisera. The availability of monoclonal antibodies to beta-actin provides a valuable and specific tool for studying intracellular beta-actin distribution and cytoskeletal dynamics.
GenScript MonoRab™ Beta-Actin Antibody (Rabbit, mAb) is produced from a hybridoma generated by fusing partner and B-lymphocytes from a rabbit immunized with a synthetic peptide coupled to KLH.
Target Information
Beta actin is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types, playing essential roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Among six known actin isoforms, beta and gamma actins coexist as major cytoskeletal components.
Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin) with a two-stranded helical structure. Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta-actin is commonly used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting.
Antibodies to beta-actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular localization and the structural and dynamic aspects of the cytoskeleton.
