Target Information
FZD4 is a member of the frizzled gene family, encoding seven-transmembrane domain proteins that act as receptors for the Wingless-type MMTV integration site family of signaling proteins. Most frizzled receptors are coupled to the beta-catenin canonical signaling pathway, and FZD4 functions as a positive regulator of this pathway.
A transcript variant retaining intronic sequence and encoding a shorter isoform has been described, though its expression is not supported by additional experimental evidence.
Frizzled 4 is widely expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, ovary, and fetal kidney, and also detected in liver, kidney, pancreas, spleen, fetal lung, and smaller amounts in placenta, adult lung, prostate, testis, colon, and fetal brain.
