Target Information

Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are secreted signaling molecules that induce ectopic bone growth and belong to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFB) superfamily. BMPs were first identified by their ability to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo. BMP7, expressed early in embryogenesis, is proposed to play a role in early development and may exhibit bone inductive activity similar to BMP5 and BMP6.
