Target Information
UBA2 is involved in covalent attachment of one protein to another, a key posttranslational modification process. Ubiquitin is well-known for this function, and recently, SUMO (Sentrin) proteins have gained attention for their role in stabilizing target proteins and facilitating their localization within sub-cellular complexes. Conjugation of SUMO-1, SUMO-2, and SUMO-3 requires the E1-activating enzyme SAE1/SAE2, the E2-conjugating enzyme Ubc9, and an E3-like SUMO ligase.
