Target Information

OPRD1 (Opioid Receptor Delta 1) is involved in the regulation of anxiety, depression, and pain. It serves as a potential therapeutic target for mood disorders and addiction. Delta and kappa opioid receptors form heterodimers with synergistic functions.

OPRD1 expression is primarily observed in the brain, with high levels in the cortex, caudate, hippocampus, nucleus accumbens, and putamen, and lower levels in the cerebellum, hypothalamus, substantia nigra, and thalamus. Reduced expression has been noted in the putamen and amygdala of Alzheimer’s patients and in the putamen in Parkinson’s disease.
