Target Information
Arginine methylation is an irreversible post-translational modification implicated in RNA processing, trafficking, receptor-mediated signaling, and transcription. At least three types of PRMT enzymes have been identified in mammalian cells. These enzymes perform essential regulatory functions by methylating key proteins involved in nuclear activity, transcription, cell cycle regulation, signal transduction, apoptosis, and viral processes. The mammalian PRMT family consists of seven members sharing two large domains of homology. Antibodies have been developed against all seven PRMT members.
