Target Information

Wilms' tumor (WT) is an embryonal kidney malignancy affecting 1 in 10,000 infants, found in both sporadic and inherited forms.
WT1 binds the DNA sequence GCGGGGGCG and functions as a transcriptional repressor.
WTAP (Wilms tumor 1-associating protein) is a nuclear protein interacting with WT1, involved in mRNA splicing regulation.
WTAP localizes to nuclear speckles and regulates the G2/M cell cycle transition by stabilizing cyclin A2 mRNA.
It inhibits expression of WT1 target genes and reduces WT1 DNA-binding ability.
Two isoforms of WTAP exist due to alternative splicing.
