Target Information
Chromosome 1 is the largest human chromosome, spanning about 260 million base pairs and accounting for approximately 8% of the human genome. It contains around 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with various diseases.
Notable examples include the LMNA gene linked to Hutchinson-Gilford progeria, the MUTYH gene related to familial adenomatous polyposis, and the DISC1 gene associated with schizophrenia.
Chromosome 1 abnormalities are also found in cancers such as head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma.
The C1orf185 gene product has been provisionally designated C1orf185 pending further characterization.
