Target Information
Chromosome 1 is the largest human chromosome, spanning about 260 million base pairs and comprising approximately 8% of the human genome. It contains around 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with various diseases. For example, Hutchinson-Gilford progeria involves the LMNA gene, which encodes lamin A, and mutations can cause nuclear abnormalities. Other genes on chromosome 1, such as MUTYH, DISC1, and LMNA, are linked to conditions including familial adenomatous polyposis, schizophrenia, and multiple cancers such as head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma.
