This antibody detects endogenous levels of total PCBP2.
Target Information
The protein encoded by the PCBP2 gene is multifunctional. Along with PCBP-1 and hnRNPK, it is a major cellular poly(rC)-binding protein containing three K-homologous (KH) domains involved in RNA binding. Together with PCBP-1, it functions as a translational coactivator of poliovirus RNA via interaction with stem-loop IV of the IRES, promoting viral RNA replication. It also plays roles in translational control of 15-lipoxygenase mRNA, HPV type 16 L2 mRNA, and hepatitis A virus RNA. Additionally, it contributes to the formation of an alpha-globin mRNP complex associated with mRNA stability. PCBP2 and PCBP1 are paralogs, and the gene has two processed pseudogenes (PCBP2P1, PCBP2P2). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
