Target Information
ETV4 (E1A enhancer binding protein, E1AF), also known as PEA3, is a member of the Ets gene family encoding sequence-specific DNA binding proteins. This family includes mouse PU.1, mouse and human Ets-1, Drosophila E74, chicken and human Ets-2, and rat GABP-α. These proteins recognize DNA motifs containing a central 5'-GGAA-3' element.
For example, PEA3 binds the motif 5'-AGGAAG-3' (PEA-3 motif) but not 5'-AGGAAC-3', which is recognized by PU.1.
ETV4 is expressed in epithelial and fibroblastic cells but not in hematopoietic cells, distinguishing it from other Ets family members such as Ets-1, Ets-2, and Fli-1, which are primarily expressed in hematopoietic cells.
