Product Specific Information
The MA1-7427 antibody reacts with Yersinia pestis in bacterial and infected tissue samples.
It has been successfully used in ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications.
The antibody was raised against the 15 kDa F1 antigen.
Target Information
Yersinia pestis is a gram-negative coccobacillus belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is primarily a rodent pathogen, with humans being accidental hosts when bitten by infected rat fleas.
During the flea’s feeding process, viable Y. pestis organisms are transmitted to a new host. In the flea, Y. pestis loses its F1 capsule antigen layer.
In humans, most bacteria are phagocytosed and killed by polymorphonuclear leukocytes, while some survive within tissue macrophages, where they synthesize virulence factors.
