Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of p70 S6 Kinase only when phosphorylated at Thr252, which site has been historically referenced as Thr229.
Target Information
RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. p70 S6 kinase is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and is essential in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, pathways involving cell motility (such as metastasis), immune response, and tissue repair. It acts downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, and its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein involved in upregulation of protein synthesis. The kinase activity of p70 S6 kinase promotes protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase have been observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
