For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that functions to either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family can dimerize to modulate apoptosis further. For example, Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect. Conversely, Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis.
Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as via translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is implicated in follicular lymphoma. In most follicular lymphomas, neoplastic germinal centers express high levels of BCL-2 alpha protein, unlike normal or hyperplastic centers. Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ in their C-terminal ends. Overexpression of BCL-2 is associated with cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
