Target Information
STAT2 is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by receptor-associated kinases and form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the nucleus as transcription activators. Upon interferon (IFN) stimulation, STAT2 forms a complex with STAT1 and ISGF3G, acting as a transactivator without direct DNA binding ability. STAT2 also interacts with transcription adaptor P300/CBP, which may play a role in blocking IFN-alpha response by adenovirus.
