Product Specific Information
Mouse anti Horse CD8 antibody, clone CVS21 recognizes the equine homolog of human CD8. Equine CD8 is expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family, playing an integral role in signal transduction, T cell differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC-I molecules.
It is also expressed on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Binding of MHC-I/peptide complexes by antigen-presenting cells triggers recruitment of Lck, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation.
Activated CTLs are crucial for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
