Mouse anti-Guinea Pig CD8 antibody, clone CT6, reacts with guinea pig CD8 present on cytotoxic T-cells.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family. It plays a key role in signal transduction and T cell differentiation and activation.
CD8 is mainly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer (CD8α and CD8β) functioning as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules.
It is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Engagement of MHC-I/peptide complexes triggers Lck recruitment, leading to lymphokine production, motility, and CTL activation. Activated CTLs are essential for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naïve CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
