Mouse anti-Horse CD8 (clone CVS8) is a monoclonal antibody recognizing the equine homologue of the human CD8 cell surface antigen, expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin receptor family, playing an integral role in signal transduction and T cell differentiation and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor with TCR for MHC class I molecules.
It is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Binding of MHC-I/peptide complexes on antigen-presenting cells triggers Lck recruitment, leading to lymphokine production and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs are crucial for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
