Target Information
SNX6 interacts with members of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) family of receptor serine-threonine kinases. These receptors belong to two classes:
- Type II receptors: Bind ligand and recruit type I receptors for signal transduction.
- Type I receptors: Recruited by type II receptors to propagate the signal.
SNX6 interacts strongly with ActRIIB and moderately with wild type and kinase-defective mutants of TbetaRII. It interacts only with inactivated TbetaRI among type I receptors. SNXs 1–4 also interact with the TGF-β receptor family, showing different receptor preferences. SNX6 behaves similarly to other SNX proteins in interactions with receptor tyrosine kinases and forms heteromeric complexes with SNX1, SNX2, SNX4, and SNX6, suggesting oligomeric complex formation in vivo.
