Product Specific Information

The XMG1.2 antibody reacts with mouse interferon (IFN) gamma and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IFN gamma is a 20 kDa cytokine produced by activated T, B, and NK cells, exhibiting antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It inhibits proliferation of normal and transformed cells and modulates immune responses through high-affinity IFN gamma receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

Applications Reported:
Used in ELISA, flow cytometry (intracellular staining), immunoblotting (WB), and neutralization assays.

Applications Tested:
Validated as a capture antibody in sandwich ELISA with biotin R4-6A2 (13-7312) for detection and recombinant mouse IFN gamma (39-8311) as standard. Recommended ELISA capture range: 0.25–1 µg/mL. Excess antibody may reduce sensitivity. Include a standard curve (2000 pg/mL–15 pg/mL) in each plate.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced mainly by T lymphocytes and NK cells. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) consisting of two 146 amino acid subunits. Biological activity is species-specific; human IFN gamma does not cross-react with mouse. Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative activity, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced immunoglobulin secretion. It acts via IFN gamma receptor I/II and the JAK-STAT pathway. Human IFN gamma shares ~40% sequence homology with mouse IFN gamma. Mutations are associated with aplastic anemia.
