Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with HIV-1 Tat BH10 and IIIB strains. It also recognizes rTat consensus sequences of HIV-1 subtypes A (PNLEPWH), B (PRLEPWK), and C (PNLEPWN), mapped to amino acids 6–12 (PRLEPWK, B subtype consensus).
MA1-71509 is suitable for chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) analysis of HIV-1 Tat.
This clone may also be referred to as 7 (02-002).
Target Information
HIV-1 Tat (Trans-Activator of Transcription) consists of 86–101 amino acids depending on the subtype. Tat plays a crucial role in HIV replication by compensating for transcriptional defects in the viral genome. It binds and phosphorylates cellular factors, overcoming RNA hairpin structures to promote efficient transcription of HIV RNA, establishing a positive feedback loop. Tat protein is secreted by infected cells and detectable in the blood of HIV-1 infected patients.
