Target Information
STAT6 protein is a transcription factor activated by cytokines, particularly interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-13. STAT6-deficient cells show impaired IL-4-mediated functions such as Th2 helper T-cell differentiation, expression of surface markers, T-cell proliferation, and immunoglobulin class switching to IgE. STAT6 mRNA is found in multiple tissues including blood lymphocytes, colon, intestine, ovary, prostate, thymus, spleen, kidney, liver, lung, and placenta. It plays a crucial role in Th2 immune response and IL-4-mediated biological functions, existing in two isoforms: STAT6a and STAT6c.
