Product Specific Information

PA1-27003 detects Desmin from all mammalian samples.
It has been successfully used in immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin), and Western blot applications.
Antigen retrieval is required for immunostaining.
The immunogen used is full-length human Desmin protein.

Target Information

Desmin (~53 kDa) is a muscle-specific intermediate filament protein expressed in cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle cells.
Its expression is stage- and tissue-specific, induced during terminal differentiation of muscle cells.
In skeletal and cardiac muscle, Desmin localizes to the Z-disk and intercalated disk regions, while in smooth muscle, its expression is more heterogeneous.
Coexpression of Desmin and Vimentin has been observed in muscle-derived tumors such as rhabdomyosarcomas and leiomyosarcomas.
Altered Desmin distribution has been reported during myocardial dysfunction.
