For staining, an incubation period of 30–60 minutes at room temperature is suggested. Optimal conditions and antibody dilutions should be determined by the user depending on fixation and staining systems. Proteolytic treatment may enhance immunostaining in overfixed tissues.

Target Information

hCG beta is the beta chain of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a 40 kDa glycoprotein hormone produced by trophoblastic cells of the placenta starting 10–12 days after conception. hCG consists of alpha and beta subunits that are non-covalently associated. The alpha subunit is common to pituitary hormones (FSH, LH, TSH), while the beta subunit confers biological specificity. hCG maintains the corpus luteum during early pregnancy, stimulating progesterone production and sustaining the secretory endometrium. It is present only in trace amounts in non-pregnant urine and serum but rises sharply during pregnancy. Dysfunction of hCG is associated with gestational trophoblastic tumor and hydatidiform mole.
