Target Information
REEP5 (receptor expression-enhancing protein 5), also known as C5orf18, DP1, TB2, or D5S346, is a 189 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein. It promotes functional cell surface expression of olfactory receptors and belongs to the DP1 family. The REEP5 gene maps to chromosome 5, which encodes around 1,000 genes and constitutes about 6% of human genomic DNA.
Chromosome 5 is associated with several conditions, including:
- Cockayne syndrome (ERCC8 gene)
- Familial adenomatous polyposis (APC gene)
- Treacher Collins syndrome (TCOF1 gene)
- Cri du chat syndrome (deletion of p arm)
- Therapy-related acute myelogenous leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome (deletion of 5q)
