Target Information
NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) links transcriptional regulation directly to intracellular energetics and coordinates several cellular processes such as cell cycle, DNA damage response, metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy. SIRT1 modulates chromatin function through histone deacetylation and promotes changes in histone and DNA methylation, leading to transcriptional repression. It plays an essential role in skeletal muscle cell differentiation and mediates the inhibitory effect on myoblast differentiation under nutrient deprivation, involving AMPK and NAMPT.
