NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1)는 전사 조절을 세포 내 에너지 대사와 직접적으로 연결하며, 세포 주기, DNA 손상 반응, 대사, 세포사멸, 자가포식 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조정합니다. SIRT1은 히스톤 탈아세틸화를 통해 크로마틴 기능을 조절하고, 히스톤 및 DNA의 메틸화 변화를 유도하여 전사 억제를 유발할 수 있습니다. 또한, 영양 결핍 상태에서 골격근 세포 분화 억제에 관여하며, 이 과정은 AMPK 및 NAMPT 신호 경로와 관련되어 있습니다.
