Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. When dimerized, this complex inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while gaining binding activity to non-classical C/EBP stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 expression is minimal, but it is highly upregulated under cellular or ER stress such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents that disrupt calcium flux across the ER membrane.
