This antibody is predicted to react with chicken, human, mouse, non-human primate, and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
It is specific for the ~100 kDa GluR2 protein.
Target Information
Glutamate-activated ion channels are divided into two classes:
- NMDA receptors (NMDAR) — sensitive to N-methyl-D-aspartate
- AMPA receptors (AMPAR) — activated by alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxalone propionic acid
AMPARs consist of four Glutamate Receptor Subunits (GluR1–4) that play key roles in excitatory neurotransmission in the brain.
The GluR2 subunit is thought to be critical for synaptic plasticity such as long-term depression (LTD).
