FITC conjugates provide relatively high absorptivity, excellent fluorescence quantum yield, and good water solubility, making them ideal for flow cytometry and fluorescence-based assays.
Target Information
CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW range 45–58 kDa) of the human T-lymphocyte lineage, expressed on nearly all peripheral blood T cells and some NK cells, but not B lymphocytes.
Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating that CD2 acts as or associates with the erythrocyte receptor.
CD2 interacts with CD58 to stabilize adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting or target cells.
T cell activation increases CD2 expression and mobility, enhancing CD2–CD58 interactions and strengthening intercellular adhesion.
CD2 deficiency is linked to reduced intestinal inflammation and immune regulation.
Diseases associated with CD2 dysfunction include penile squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to absence of thymus.
