Target Information
CCR7 is a member of the G protein–coupled receptor family, a subfamily of chemokine receptors. It is induced by Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) and mediates EBV effects on B lymphocytes. CCR7 is expressed in blood, bone marrow, lymph node, and intestine, particularly in lymphoid tissues and activated B and T lymphocytes. It controls migration of memory T cells to inflamed tissues and stimulates dendritic cell maturation. The chemokine ligand CCL19 (ECL) is a specific ligand for this receptor. ESTs have been isolated from blood, embryo, lymph node, and thymus libraries. Other C-C chemokine receptors include CCR1, CCR2A, CCR3, CCR4, CCR5, and the Duffy blood group antigen, which are important for T cell chemotaxis and migration of phagocytic cells to inflammation sites.
