SLCO4C1는 유기 음이온 운반체로서 digoxin, ouabain, thyroxine, methotrexate, cAMP 등의 약리 물질을 운반할 수 있습니다.
ouabain의 막 수송 조절에 관여할 수 있으며, dipeptidyl peptidase-4 억제제인 sitagliptin의 흡수에 관여하여 신세뇨관 세포 내외 수송에 역할을 할 수 있습니다.
또한 digoxin 및 다양한 화합물의 신장 내 배설 과정의 첫 단계에 관여할 수 있습니다.
정자 성숙 과정에서 유기 음이온 및 화합물의 세포 내·세포 간 이동을 가능하게 하여 필수적인 환경 항상성을 유지하는 데 기여할 수 있습니다.
정낭 상피세포의 분비 기능에도 역할을 할 수 있으며, 이는 정자 수정 능력 획득에 필요한 표면 단백질 변형과 관련이 있습니다.
