Target Information
ST3GAL2 is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The protein is normally localized in the Golgi apparatus but can be proteolytically processed into a soluble form. As a member of glycosyltransferase family 29, ST3GAL2 can utilize the same acceptor substrates as sialyltransferase 4A.
